Our clients approached us having purchased a self-build plot in Uplyme near Lyme Regis in order to build a contemporary three bedroom house.
The site, although undoubtedly in a very desirable spot, existed as part of a steep hillside adjacent to several properties. Once completed the property would however take full advantage of the spectacular views over the bay and surrounding coastline. Given the location, the property demanded a design to a high-end specification which would offer low running cost and contemporary-style living
The position of the site meant that excavations were required to effectively carve the plot out of the hill side. This meant that our architectural team and structural engineer needed to design a long structurally engineered retaining wall and foundations.
The construction team then completed the complex foundations and retaining wall to allow for the building of the new property to the clients’ high standards and achieve this within commercial budget constraints.
